Here in Southern Nevada, science and technology are everywhere! From atomic testing to the construction of the Hoover Dam, Nevada has a rich history in science, technology, engineering, and math. Today, STEM development continues to flourish in our community. The Las Vegas Valley is host to enormous engineering projects like the third straw and the largest observation wheel in the world. Tech startups are being drawn to the area in droves, and Nevada has been selected as one of just six development and testing states for crewless aerial vehicles.
Yet research suggests that Nevada's workers need to be more educated in STEM fields, and cultivating a strong workforce begins with engaging our community's youth. Community leaders and organizations are working hard to develop programs that encourage participation in science and technology related opportunities, and the Las Vegas Science & Technology Festival is a significant part of these efforts. Through accessible, engaging, and educational programming, the Festival strives to spark students' curiosity in STEM and ultimately to encourage them to consider careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.
Best of all, all Festival programs are FREE to attend, and events are located all across the Vegas Valley, enabling anyone and everyone to participate. In just ten years, the Las Vegas Science & Technology Festival has become the largest educational event in Nevada, helping tens of thousands of people celebrate science and technology in our community.
